Arianna joined the Social Insights team in September 2024.
Arianna Alcaraz is a writer, editor, researcher, and current Graduate Student Intern at Social Insights. As an MLIS student at the University of Alberta, she has relished the opportunity to pursue multiple fields of inquiry within library and information studies (LIS), including the history of libraries and library research, critical assessment and evaluation, and social justice and equity work in LIS.
As a first-generation immigrant and diasporic scholar engaged in the critical study of cultural knowledge production, Arianna has a particular interest in transcultural research, insider/outsider research ethics, and non-extractive research methodologies. During her time at Social Insights, she is eager to develop an interdisciplinary, community-centered, and values-aligned approach to research and evaluation that she can integrate into her practice as a future information professional.
Outside of her work with libraries and library-adjacent organizations, Arianna is also the Editor-in-Chief of Pathfinder Journal, a student-led, open-access journal dedicated to promoting the scholarly work of LIS students and early career professionals from across Canada, and the developmental editor and creative director of an emerging Calgary-based Filipino-Canadian arts and culture magazine called Salingpusa.
