Black Feminist Future
The Challenge
Black Feminist Future partnered with Social Insights to conduct a first of its kind national survey of Black women, girls, femmes, and queer and trans people in order to learn about their lived experiences of COVID-19. The national survey served as a wider instrument of capturing economic, embodied, and social impacts of COVID-19 for Black womxn and gender expansive folk.
The Approach
We offered gift cards for every participant and 595 women from 48 states participated. Our research was used to inform the broader www.BlackWomxnAreEssential.com project and Zuri presented the findings and discussed feminist approaches to research in an IG live (click to listen) in January 2020.
This survey focused on capturing four key categories of information:
Demographic information on the specific identities
The specific impacts of COVID-19
Individual and community access to resources
Innovations, both individual and communal to COVID
