Places we love we can never leave.”

Paddy joined the Social Insights team in September 2024.
Paddy Qiu is a Graduate Student Intern at Social Insights, contributing to research and evaluation projects that center on equity, impact, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. They are passionate about embedding social justice principles into rigorous, community-focused research and are eager to help develop innovative strategies that drive meaningful change.
Currently pursuing an MPH at the Gillings School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity, Social Justice, and Human Rights, Paddy’s work spans a diverse range of public health challenges such as investigating HPV-related cervical health in Southeast Asia, transgender gerontology, racialized violence during the COVID-19 endemic, and the use of social justice films in nursing pedagogy. With aspirations of an academic career, they aim to focus on community-engaged research that sheds light on the experiences of queer Asian diasporas in the U.S. and globally.
As a poet, Paddy is the author of “A.I. Fever,” a collection published by Ghost City Press. With accolades like The William Herbert Memorial Poetry Contest and The C.L. Clark Writing Award for BIPOC Writers, Paddy believes in the power of creative expression to foster understanding and drive social movement. They look forward to blending their passion for creative sensemaking with their dedication to public health, finding new ways to connect people, and inspire equity-focused movements at Social Insights.
